Teach you step by step: mount a car radiator by yourself at home

If your car has problems like bad heat dissipation, radiator leakage or aging, for example, you find that there is a lot of residual coolant on your radiator, it may not be a simple lid leak, it may be your radiator is leaking, which means that you must have a brand new radiator.
If you go to the garage, it will take about 600-1000 AU, a better car will be more expensive, but if you do it yourself, only 300 AU or less, why not try it yourself? Mount a radiator by yourself at home, instead of garage, can save money and help you learn more about your car.

 Tools you need  ———

Brand new Worley radiator
Radiator fan
Car radiator silicone hose
Clamp
Brand new engine coolant
Engine sealant
Socket Wrench Set
Pliers and screwdriver
Extension bar

Stepts you refer  ———

Step 1: Drain the coolant

1.Raise the car: Find a step that can raises the car, not too high, enough to hold a basin under it, catch the coolant, and keep the car stable.
2.Remove the outlet hose and release coolant.
      1)  Remove the clamp from the hose
      2)  Hold the hose then turn left and right
Then you can easily pull out the hose, the coolant inside the engine and part of the coolant inside the radiator will be released.

Tips:

1.This will be faster than unscrewing the drain valve to release coolant, and when you take the radiator out later, you have to remove the hose too, so it is better to remove it now. Attention! Make sure the car is in a cold state, if it is a hot car and you open the lid, the coolant may directly spray out and cause burns, very dangerous!
2. You can also use the same method to remove the inlet hose, and in the process, you can also remove the negative pole of the battery, and cut off the power to the car, because it is likely to accidentally touch sensors.

Step 2: Remove the old radiator

1.Remove radiator cooling fans.
2.Remove the bolts between the radiator frame and the radiator. The bolts can be easily removed by wrench.
3.Separate the radiator from the condenser.
     1) Radiator and condenser use a fixed mechanism to fix the two of them together.
     2) Find the bolts in the middle of the radiator and the condenser and the radiator frame.
     3) Use the wrench and extension rod, plus the sleeve to loosen.
     4) After removing all the bolts, the radiator can be pulled out of the radiator frame.

Step 3: Mount a new radiator

1.Mount new outlet hose.
     1) Apply engine sealant to the outlet.
     2) Put the new hose over it.
     3) Tighten it with hose clamp.
2. Mount a new radiator.

Note:

There are two positions under the radiator, which must be put back on the radiator frame, and then remount the bolt, fix the radiator and the condenser together.

3. Mount the new cooling fan.
4. Connect the new radiator to the engine with new hose. The method is the same as before.
5. Insert the cables of the cooling fans.

Step 4: Refill the coolant

Tips:

1) A new radiator does’t have coolant, in theory, even if the radiator is filled, there will certainly be gas cavities. This is because the engine is connected to the radiator through the inlet and outlet hose, forming a coolant circulation, but the inlet will be a temperature control valve, the thermostat, the coolant does not reach the specified temperature will not open, so we need fill the radiator with coolant, start the engine, let it to heat the coolant.
2) After reaching the opening temperature of the thermostat, the water level will drop, and we should continue to supplement the coolant, until the radiator is no longer short of coolant, you can turn off the fire.

Done! Mount a radiator by yourself at home is not difficult. lf you also need to mount a new radiator, hope this blog can help you, if you need a new radiator or matching hose, clamp, fan, worley also have, just contact us.
